Organizational Adjustment for a Provincial Subsidiary
The client is the provincial subsidiary of a national mobile operator. With increased scale, the company felt that it was not achieving sufficient levels of efficiency in its management and resource allocation. In the face of new technological developments, and an increasingly competitive environment, the client needed to improve its market response time. It also needed to create a unity of purpose within the organization focused on better meeting customer needs.
ApproachBCG started by looking at management issues—especially those involving new business divisions and processes—to identify the types of inefficiencies at play and their root causes. After intense rounds of interviews and detailed analysis, we found the main problem was that the company had not effectively adapted to changing circumstances—despite having the capability to do so. To help the client overcome this problem, we identified the role of each function/division and suggested that the client adjust its organizational structure and management processes more appropriately.
Impact and value createdThe client adopted our suggestions and made the necessary changes within its organizational structure.
